“Older men declare war. But it is youth that must fight and die. And it is youth who must inherit the tribulation, the sorrow, and the triumphs that are the aftermath of war.” - Herbert Hoover

The legacy we leave our children is all we give them, it is truly the mark of what we have done with our lives. Do we really want to leave our children with nothing more than hate, destruction, violence, and death? Are our lives not worth living, do our children not deserve a chance at a true future? If all you have to give your children is your example, then lead them well, and walk them down the road of peace, for the one who walks this road is stronger than he who walks the path of violence and hate.

    Translation for tarik ait alla’s comment;

    “This is not democracy. And for this [reason] the Arab world will always be a place of world war [or global war], there will not be an egalitarianism. It’s the management of one [presumably mangement of a global war]. It’s the end of the world.”

    al-haddad,

    Thank you for your comment. I agree with you that no child should be born to a grieving parent, should be denied a father or a mother, that no child should be born into war. I do not know in what context you mean when you say, “a child must react”. The fact that these injustices will inevitably effect children, however I do not believe that children should be reared to react in forms of violence. I do believe that children should be taught right from wrong, and one should stand up against injustices. Mostly I believe that children should be children, and we as adults should ensure that all children have a childhood.

    Best,
    Cassandra

    tarik ait alla,

    The belief that the Arab world will always be a place of war to me is one that leads to a feeling of hopelessness, and it is that feeling that can lead to continued violence. It is like the child who is always told they are no good, or can’t, and they grow up with this negative voice always in their ear and mind effecting the rest of their life. While I too have many moments of cynicism in a world that is full of so much hate and violence, but it is hope that carries me to continue my work, and it is hope that will carry the world to piece and we must instill that peace.

    Regards,
    Cassandra
