The children that will never be…
They look so young, so innocent as they lie sleeping
Held so tightly together, with their faces finally erased of worry
Almost snug looking, half buried in rags on their concrete bed
But this peacefulness will end all too soon
For when sleep wears from their eyes it will reveal pain and despair
Their loneliness only quenched by the embrace they find in each other

I found your pictures by stumbling around with a google image search. Thank you.
Why do people accept the idea of children sleeping on the street as being normal?

Hello Emily,
Thank you very much for reading my site, and for being so moved. The writing you are referring to was done by myself. I actually wrote it a few years back when I passed some children curled up and sleeping underneath an overpass near my house in England. As for the photo I got it from the site Hobo Traveler, as per the link.
I wish you all the best, and your caring and concern is a great start to help end the suffering of another. It is amazing what power words have, use your voice to speak for those who have had their voices silenced. Words lead to action, thus do not forget that you too have the power to act for change.
Best
Cassandra
